Mark your calendars Packer Fans, because something almost as rare as Haley’s comet occurred Monday afternoon, Ted Thompson signed an unrestricted free agent.
WHAT!?

Packer GM Ted Thompson
That’s right, Ted Thompson the Packer GM since 2005, signed Tight End Jared Cook from the Rams. Cook is a 28-year-old seasoned veteran who will actually give the Packers a deep threat something that was missing all of the 2015 season when Jordy Nelson went down with an ACL injury in the pre-season, and ended up side lining him for the year.

Jared Cook #89
Cook signed a one year deal worth up to $3.65 million with incentives. So, does this mean that Thompson is blowing the dust off the Packer coffers? Probably not, but it is a good sign in the right direction.
Here is the list of unrestricted free agents Thompson signed since the beginning of his tenure, and the games they spent with the Green and Gold:
2005 – Adrian Klemm (G 16 games)
2006 – Ryan Pickett (DT 110 games), Charles Woodson (CB/S 100 games), Marquand Manuel (S 16 games), Ben Taylor (LB 10 games)
2007 – Frank Walker (CB 12 games)
2008 – Brandon Chillar (LB 34 games)
2012 – Jeff Saturday (C 14 games)

#56 Peppers
I didn’t forget about Julius Peppers, and Letroy Guion who were both signed in 2014, Thompson did sign them, but, neither qualify as an unrestricted free because they had been cut by their previous teams, Peppers from Chicago, and Guion from Minnesota.
There have been a few other Thompson signings, but, they never saw the regular season, Marc Boerigter, Matt O’Dwyer, Duke Preston, and Anthony Hangrove.
That first pre-season snap in Canton is on August 7th, we’ll see if Ole’ Ted has anymore ink left in his pen.
GO PACK GO!

Cook’s fantasy value just increased.
