We never landed on the moon, 9/11 was a cover-up, Paul is Dead, The JFK Assassination, Area 51, the list goes on and on. Conspiracies have been around forever and theorists will continue to make a person go hmmmm.
Are you ready for the latest?
The NFL is “in bed” with Hollywood, and preventing Will Smith from winning an Academy this year for his role in the movie “Concussion.” That’s right…can you believe it?!
Last week the list for the nominees came out for the 88th Academy Awards held on February 28th, 2016, and Will Smith who played Dr. Ben Omalu in the movie Concussion was not on it. The 5 nominees are Bryan Cranston (Trumbo), Matt Damon (The Martian), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), and Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl).
I can see where proponents of this “theory” are coming from, if Concussion wins for Best Picture, or Best Actor it would bring the whole concussion talk back up and put it back in the forefront of peoples minds. The NFL would look evil, and there would go marketing dollars and popularity down the drain.
Let’s now look at the more logical reason, and I DON’T mean RACISM…maybe just maybe Smith’s performance wasn’t as good as the 5 that were nominated. Maybe he was #6, how many times do we look at All-Star rosters and wonder why a certain player didn’t make the cut… or Hall of Fame inductions, someone is always left off.
The movie was good, and Smith did an excellent job, but, then again I’m not a film critic.
I’m not going to be one of those guys that cries racism or conspiracy just to stir the pot. Trust me there is no way that Roger Goodell and the NFL brass went to the the Academy, and “blackballed” Will Smith and the movie “Concussion” from being nominated.
