In the 1974 James Bond flick “The Man with the Golden Gun” famed fictional assassin Francisco Scaramarga set out to eliminate 007 James Bond with his “golden gun”… spoiler alert – he doesn’t, and Bond once again prevails.
Such hasn’t been the case for the man with the Golden Bat, who once again has been sent to assassin Brewer pitching when he comes to the Cream City. Arizona Diamondback All-Star First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt is the player who seems to have a Golden Bat at game time in Milwaukee.
In his 11 career games at One Brewers Way, Goldschmidt has 9 doubles, 6 home runs, 16 RBI, and is 23 for 47, batting a whopping .489. Not to mention a slugging percentage north of .900.
The Brewers called up Double A Biloxi Shuckers right-hander Tyler Wagner since Wily Peralta is out with a strained left oblique. Wagner will be making his Major League debut today… being he’s from Las Vegas, and the number 7 is synonymous with luck and “Sin City,” he my just be the “007” the Crew needs to stifle Goldschmidt, and spark a win.
With all the numbers being retired why not pick 007 for your number?
