Well I was close in my November 20th prediction on what Bowl Game the Badgers would be playing in at the end of the season as teams were jockeying for position. In my article “G’day Mate.” I had the right state just the wrong Bowl, and Opponent…Bucky will indeed be Sunshine State New Years Day, but instead of the Outback Bowl, it will be the Capitol One Bowl, and instead of Texas A&M it will be the Gamecocks of South Carolina.
So while we all recover from New Years Eve on our couches, the Badgers will be playing in their 8th New Years Day bowl in the last 10 season, This will be UW’s 5th trip in 9 seasons to the Capitol One Bowl, they have posted a 3-1 record there since 2006, with two of those wins over higher ranked teams.
Gary Anderson’s Badgers went 9-3 over-all record while going 6-2 in the Big Ten, while the Gamecocks coached by the “Ole Ball Coach” Steve Spurrier finished their season 10-2 over-all and 6-2 in the SEC.
In the long storied history of both schools the two have never met, in either the regular season or in a bowl.
Just for the record Bucky all time versus the SEC is 8-9-1.
After 3 straight loses in the Rose Bowl I hope Bucky rubs out the cocks!
Go Badgers let’s have the seniors go out winning a bowl game. Hey Bret enjoy the holidays watching the Badgers in a bowl game i’am sure it will be a while until you get to a bowl game
