That’s what the countdown is at after a long wait in between All-Star Games for the state of Minnesota. The Twins finally released the official logo of the 2014 Mid-summer Classic.
The Twins have hosted the All-Star Game twice before, both games were won by the National League. In 1965, the same year the Twins made there first World Series appearance (lost to the Dodgers in 7 games) 46,706 sets of eyes watched both leagues battle it out at Metropolitan Stadium. The contest went 2 hours 45 minutes with the “Senior Circuit” winning 6-5, and Giants pitcher Juan Marichal taking home the MVP honors.
Twenty Years later the Twins were hosts again this time the game was indoors at the Twins home field, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. On July 16th 1985, there wasn’t an empty seat in the house as 54,960 watched the N.L. defeat the American League 6-1. Padres hurler LaMarr Hoyt who started the game for the N.L. was named the game’s MVP.
The Twins go back to their roots with their new OUTDOOR stadium since 2010, spacious Target Field.
