Just one week since Milwaukee Brewer’s 5 time All-Star and 2011 MVP, Ryan Braun was suspended for the rest of the season (65 games) in a PED investigation (7-22-13), the Brewer Brass rolled out the “Fan First” project. The first installment of the “Fan First” Project will start this Friday and continue through August. More “Fan First” promotions are to follow throughout the rest of the season.
Here are the details for part one: Every ticketed fan coming through the turnstiles in August
will receive a voucher good for $10 that can be used for food, beverage,
merchandise and tickets sold at nearly every outlet (only excluding Friday’s
Front Row, portable merchandise stands, Miller Park Suites, the Johnson Controls
Stadium Club and All-Inclusive entertaining areas). Vouchers may be combined
(meaning that fans attending with friends and family members, or those attending
multiple games, can combine the vouchers for larger purchases) and used at any
remaining 2013 home game. The vouchers can also be used toward the purchase of
game tickets this season.
“This has been a challenging season for all of us, but the one thing that has never wavered has been the tremendous support we have received from fans who love the Brewers. We wanted to do something meaningful to show our appreciation, and will strive to provide the best fan experience possible.” Brewer primary owner Mark Attanasio.
Let’s do some quick math…on an average of 30,000 fans per game over the 12 home games in August, times $10, comes to roughly $3.6 million. How much did Ryan Braun forfeit because of his so called “mistake?”….$3.25 million. So basically the Brewers are spending Braun’s forfeited salary to treat its loyal fans, and hopefully keep them coming to the park through this rough season that may have the Crew drop 90+ games.
Give the Brewers credit for turning lemons into lemonade…even though fans may need to add some vodka to get to through to the end of September!
